I just read your post and sent an e-mail to the paper telling them that Jehovah's Witnesses are a dangerous cult! I also asked them to read carefully any responses they get from former members who know all too well the "truth" about them.

Newspaper Article on JWs today - Write the paper - PLEASE!!
by Seeker4 intoday's sunday, claremont, nh eagle times has an interesting article on jws - inspired in part by a quick build kingdom hall going up this weekend in rockingham, vt.. here's the link: eagle times article october 23, 2005. i thought the article was good, but may have gone a bit easy on the witnesses.
no mention of witness shunning, the dateline expose, silentlambs, the blood issue, witness beliefs, etc.
also a bit confusing is the assertion of the tremendous growth rate at the same time that the article states that baptisms have dropped off 33% in the us since the mid-90s (holy shit!

What's with my Mom and the NWT?
by Ingenuous inbefore i left the org, i decided to start doing my personal bible reading in a translation other than the nwt.
my mother seemed bothered by this, wanting to know why i didn't want to use the nwt, describing why she greatly preferred it to other translations, and generally adopting a worried look whenever i mentioned the topic.
i talked to her this morning and she turned the conversation into a q&a session on a bible i was looking for in a local bookstore.

While we were still attending meetings, we would often bring different versions of the Bible and read from them, especially when a reference was made in the Watchtower or study book from other versions. We would often raise our hands to answer and preface a comment with "may I read from the--NIV-KJV-NASB-etc.". Although we were allowed to read from other Bibles, we could here the gasps and sighs as we read other than from the NWT. As the 'borganization' often also quotes from the book of Maccabees, I once made a comment at the book study that it's interesting that it is only found in certain translations, perticularly the Catholic Bibles. Needless to say, My comment did not go over well with the book study conductor. Tell your Mom to also read the footnotes in the 1884 (interesting year) reference NWT. There are a lot of clues in them.

So sorry to hear of the treatment you are getting from your children. Mr. KOOL AID MAN and I have five children, two of whom are still active Witnesses. We were in the grocery store not long ago when our daughter, a regular pioneer, saw us and walked away. Several people were standing there when I said " aren't you going to even say hello to your parents?". She just kept walking away. Our oldest daughter sent us a letter telling us she wants nothing to do with us any more. This hurt us deeply as she is also the mother of our oldest grandson whom we have also heard just got baptized. All of this simply because we found out too many things about the organization and stopped attending meetings. Try to stay strong, even though it hurts, because we all know that the Organization of Jehovah's Witnesses has a lifelong record of breaking families apart.

I know Walter R. Wissman--he was a circuit overseer in Florida when I lived there back in the 90's. He came to visit us and told us the R. in his middle name stands for Russell--as he was named after none other than the famous C.T. Russell himself. Wissman's parents studied with Russell and his group. Let's just hope that the WORLDLY person doesn't fall for the "would you like a free home Bible study" line and get roped into this dangerous cult!

Hi! Lawrence, We're looking forward to being at the protest. We're traveling down to Penn. to the ex-Witness conference, and will be stopping by to help you with your much needed protest. We feel that protests, demonstrations, picketing, or as we like to call them " DEMONSTRATIVE GESTURES" !!!! have much practical value. Any way that a seed of doubt can be planted, or outright fraud can be exposed concerning this dangerous cult, is worth the effort, and it would be good to see more ex-Witnesses participate in this type of activity. Way more good than harm comes out of them.

What a great subject! We once visited a Governing Body member and brought to his attention the fact that there are two Daniel books, each having different information. As we had the books with us, ready to show him, he said "No there are not two books, it's brobably just a problem in translation". Then he quickly changed subjects. There are so many examples of their changes, some to numerous to elaborate on. But the fact is, if they are speaking for GOD, which we know they are not, there would be no changes. We have an extensive library of publications, so we would be glad to share information. One of my favorites is in the Studies in Scriptures book, which states that "BALD HEADED MEN STARTED FALSE RELIGION"! I always thought that Russell and Rutherfraud had hair!!

Are these two new members in addition to the already existing body, or have two been deleted? We know a member of the Governing Body who told us personally that all the members are not in total agreement with one another. Is this an indication that some may be "packing their bags and leaving"?

What a great subject! Keep up the research. A few years ago Mr. Kool aid man and I were visiting a friend when we noticed she had a Bible with 8 different translations. That prompted us to get one for ourselves. It was quite an eye-opener! Since then we have studied the N.W.T. from cover to cover and found out what a biased and twisted book it really is. All of your observations are correct. The Watchtower organization had to come up with their own translation to promulgate their own agenda, which most of us now know is done under mind control. Remember back when you first became a Witness, whether or not you were born into this religion or not,one of the first steps that are taken is to get you to give up your Bible and exchange it for the New World Translation. This "slight of hand trick" is done under the quise of telling you that it is the "superior" translation. Sadly enough most of us fell for this. But it is good to see so many who are now out from under the "spell of the Watchtower'" and thinking for yourselves. Notice, first of all, that you will not find the word 'BIBLE' in this book except for the first few pages in the beginning where it uses the words Watchtower BIBLE and Tract Society, as well as on page 5 where it says 'NEW WORLD BIBLE TRANSLATION COMMITTEE. tHIS IS NOT THE HOLY BIBLE as recognized by world Biblical scholars, it is an instruction manual to support the authoritarian rule of the Watchtower Organization!

2 Elders Ask My Mom 2 Questions-----What's Your Opinion On Motive?
by minimus in#1 do you love jehovah?......she answered, "of course i love jehovah".
#2 do you feel the same about the faithful & discreet slave?....she answered, "why wouldn't i ?
they taught me everything i know".-----to give you some background, the elders paid a shepherding call on this ill former regular pioneer that they deleted for going to an "unequaled yoking" of a wedding of my inactive daughter and her "worldly" husband.

Hi! we're newbies. Two anointed ex-witnesses who 'wiggled our way loose' from the authoritarian Watchtower organization. We were Witnesses for over 40 years, and have come to realize the Watchtower organization is now faced with monumental problems. We are pleased to see such a forum exist to vent feelings concerning your' "trip" through the Watchtower World. We have been visiting this sight for some time now and are pleased to part of it with you. Hey! minimus, the questions being asked to your mother concerning her feelings on the "slave" are generally the first questions asked in the 'interogation process'. Those on the boundaries of the Watchtower, ready to make their flight without turbulence must be very cautious in answering questions about the faithful slave, the Witnesses "GOD". In the initial interogation, speaking cynically and denying such a slave exists, will immediately begin the process of disfellowshipping! Tell you Mom to play it "kool", and 'slide around their questions'.
